Here is some real wilderness birding! The vast expanse of tundra north of Whitehorse is home to Surfbirds, Northern Wheatears and Gray-crowned Rosy Finches. Try Surfbird Mountain in late May for high alpine birds.

Kluane National Park and Reserve

Several of Canada's highest mountain peaks are in the park. Glaciers give way to valleys with spruce and aspen. Start at the Dezadeash River Trail and listen for warblers. All three ptarmigan are seen in the southern part of the Park.
