Birding Video: Choosing a Bird Feeder and Birdwatching Tips
In this short video clip an expert discusses different sorts of birdfeeders and different kinds of foods for birds, and also demonstrates a couple different methods of dispensing food to birds. First he shows a tube feeder and explains how tube feeders are good for dispensing small seed like niger thistle to attract bird species like goldfinches, house finches, and pine siskins. Secondly he shows a suet feeder and explains how suet can be dispensed either by placing it in a metal basket, or also by placing it in a mesh bag and hanging it above the ground. He identifies woodpeckers, nuthatches and Black-capped Chickadees as types of birds attracted by suet.
